Ecological cultivation as a matter of principle
The Feldererhof organic farm is one of over a hundred organic farms in South Tyrol that use nature’s own control mechanisms. The knowledge we have acquired of organic systems frees us from the need to use chemicals. Our apples are therefore largely free of undesirable substances and richer in valuable secondary plant compounds such as phenols, flavonoids and lycopene, as well as vitamin C. Today, for many people it is becoming increasingly important to eat organically and in an ecologically sustainable way. For this reason it is extremely important to the Feldererhof organic farm that this “Garden of Eden” fruit is grown along organic lines in South Tyrol too. After all, the apple has a special place in the culture of South Tyrol.

Working with nature, rather than against her
For many years we have grown our produce along organic lines at the Feldererhof organic farm.
To this end, we comply with all requirements for the successful cultivation of organic fruit in that we only use appropriate varieties, root stocks and cultivation methods. Growing locations are selected in such a way as to promote the fruit trees’ health and resistance. In addition, we are careful with our use of water and encourage the variety and activity of the organisms in the soil.
Balanced crop rotation, low impact cultivation of the soil and the fertilisation of intensive permanent crops is done exclusively on organic lines, and always with the aim of creating a beneficial microclimate in the orchards.
